WHAT DO YOU NEED?    

Adapter, Converter or Transformer?

Normally when traveling to Europe the only thing needed is a  Dual Voltage  Adapter for a cell phone and laptop.

Purchase a UNIVERSAL ADAPTER, instead of using different adapters 

for different countries.  

- Phones & Laptops; need an adapter 

to plug it into the wall.

- A Razor or Electric Toothbrush may work that way, however, you need to know if your device is dual voltage.

A VOLTAGE CONVERTER allows devices to operate at high temperatures and cannot be run on the electricity provided.

-  A voltage converter is not going to help with electronics that aren’t dual voltage.

- Hair Devices (flat irons, curling irons, blow dryers) use dual voltage.

- The U.S. runs on 110 volt electricity.

- Japan is 100 volts. 

- Europe, Asia, and Australia run between 220 volts and 240 volts.  

A TRANSFORMER changes the current to something closer to pure voltage. 

- If you are using electronics that are 

not DUAL VOLTAGE a Transformer 

is required.  Purchase the smallest transformer .

- When choosing between a CONVERTER or TRANSFORMER, 

you need to know the maximum 

wattage at which your device(s) operate. 

You need a Converter or Transformer that is certified to operate at 

greater than that wattage.

IS YOUR PASSPORT VALID 

(although, it has not yet expired) ? 

Passports should be valid through the dates of your trip, but most countries in the European Union require passports to be valid for at least (3) months from the date of departure and some countries even require passports to be valid for at least (6) months from date of departure.

Before leaving the U.S., you need to verify if you have MEDICAL COVERAGE for international travel.

Medicare WILL NOT PAY for healthcare services when you travel outside the U.S 

If you have Supplemental Insurance to Medicare, verify with your "Provider" 

if they include coverage outside the U.S. If coverage is not included in your Supplemental Plan, you should purchase a TRAVEL INSURANCE POLICY 

that includes international 

healthcare coverage.

TRIP CANCELLATION INSURANCE

Do not travel anywhere without 

Trip Cancellation Insurance.

READ  THE  FINE  PRINT

Many insurance providers only offer 

"bare-bones travel insurance plans" 

with little coverage and a long list 

of exclusions. The details and exclusions 

of the plan are buried in the fine print. 

A comprehensive travel insurance plan will also include coverage for:

• Travel delays, such as extra expenses when you’re stuck in an airport due to weather problems
• Missed connections
• Baggage and personal items, including lost or damaged baggage
