HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

The American Airlines AAdvantage Program is turning forty years old; it was introduced in May 1981.

I'm sure we all remember the introduction of the AAdvantage Program, whether you worked in Reservations, Passenger Sales, or Airport Services. I was part of LAX Sales back then.

15 years later, in May 1996, I had the distinct honor of being the Project Manager @ HDQ to create the Requirements and Implement the ELECTRONIC UPGRADE PROGRAM for Advantage Members.  When Electronic Upgrades were introduced, AAdvantage STICKERS became a thing of the past.  No more peeling them from booklets and pasting them on flight coupons.  I was back at DFW Airport when Electronic Upgrade Program was released, and it was a flawless implementation of the "STICKERLESS" Program.

Bob Crandall absolutely loved the AAdvantage program, it created the best brand of customer loyalty for AA along with all of us providing the best customer service in the entire airline industry.

9/11 Commemorative Lapel Pin

We Did It!

Retirees will receive 9/11 Commemorative lapel pins.

To all who served American Airlines on Sept. 11, thank you for your service!

The CR Smith Museum will distribute the 9/11 commemorative lapel pin to retirees! There is NO charge for the Pin, however, there is a $5.00 shipping and processing fee.

For the 20th anniversary, American Airlines joined with United Airlines to create a special lapel pin to honor the lives and legacies of our colleagues, family members, and loved ones we lost. These pins are being worn throughout the airline operation during the month of September as a reminder to both team members and customers of all that was sacrificed that day.

C. R. SMITH MUSEUM

ORDERING INFORMATION ~~~~~

Retirees of American Airlines and its wholly-owned subsidiaries are also able to order a commemorative 9/11 pin now through November 30 for $5 (to cover shipping and processing costs) via the C.R. Smith Museum website.

September - 2021

September 11th

On this day in 2001,  nineteen (19) militants associated with the terrorist group al-Qaeda hijacked four planes in the United States and attacked the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.  The fourth plane crashed in a field in Shanksville, PA after passengers defended it against the hijackers.

The PENTAGON.  What you may not know is that on September 11, 1941,  60 years earlier on this same day,  construction began on the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia.

It is one of the largest office buildings in the world, and it is the headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense, including the ARMY, NAVY, and the AIR FORCE.

We Will Always Remember

June is designated as 'pride month'

Commemorates the Stonewall Riots

LGBT Pride Month occurs in the United States to commemorate the Stonewall Riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969.

As a result, many pride events are held during this month to recognize the impact LGBT people have had in the world.

All Americans called upon to observe this month by fighting prejudice and discrimination in their own lives and everywhere it exists. – U.S. Proclamation 8529

July 4th - Independence day

Declaration of Independence

The Declaration of Independence was designed to justify breaking away from a government. The Constitution and the Bill of Rights were designed to establish a government.

The Declaration stands on its own—it has never been amended. John Hancock, President of the Continental Congress, signed the Declaration of Independence. It is said that John Hancock's signed his name "with a great flourish" so England's "King George can read that without spectacles!"

The Constitution has been amended (27) times. The first 10 Amendments are called the Bill of Rights. The Declaration and Bill of Rights set limitations on government; the Constitution was designed both to create and constrain a government and also to constrain it.

The Constitution & Bill of Rights

The fundamental freedoms of the American people were alluded to in the Declaration of Independence, implicit in the Constitution, and enumerated in the Bill of Rights.

The Declaration of Independence made certain promises about which liberties were fundamental and inherent, but those liberties didn’t become legally enforceable until they were enumerated in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

The Constitution was designed to empower the central government to preserve the blessings of liberty for “We the People of the United States.”
