AA's BASIC ECONOMY TICKETS WILL NO LONGER EARN ADVANTAGE MILES or LOYALTY POINTS --- which means when retirees purchase a 20% discounted basic economy ticket, you will not earn miles or loyalty points for the flight(s).

You will still earn loyalty points if you use your Citibank AAdvantage Credit Card to PURCHASE the ticket, but you wil not earn miles, or loyalth points for the flight(s).

- CONTINUED - LOyalty Points & ADV Miles

Loyalty Points are earned through travel, credit card spending and partner activity in the AAdvantage® program.

American, oneworld® and eligible partner airlines.

Earning Miles. You’ll earn AAdvantage® miles and Loyalty Points for flying an eligible ticket (excludes Basic Economy fare tickets bought on or after 12:00 a.m. on December 17, 2025).

Earning Miles. Travelers earn based on the ticket cost (excluding any government-imposed taxes, fees or additions like bags or seats) for flights marketed by American and select partners or based on the distance of the flight. Miles and Loyalty Points post to your account after you fly.

You can also earn AAdvantage® miles and Loyalty Points without flying when you engage with our hotel, car and shopping partners.

NEW --- AUTOMATed REFUNDS FOR 20% DISCOUnt Tickets

Effective November 15, 2024

When booking your Reservations/PNR on www.aa.com please follow these procedures for AA to automatically issue a refund (of the fare purchase, or mileage being used), otherwise the discount and refund will not be processed and it will be denied. All of these steps MUST BE DONE BEFORE TICKETING.

Booking on www.aa.com seems easier and less restrictive than booking the AA20 through MY ID TRAVEL.

When purchasing a fare/ticket - you must follow the Rules & Restrictions of the fare/class of service being purchased. This includes when you can receive a seat assignment, boarding groups at airports, airport standby rules for a different flight (if your fare permits it), and and all other fare rules, and/or refunds.

• NEW REQUIREMENT --- For ALL TRAVEL the traveler MUST be an ADV member and their ADV number MUST be in their Traveler Profile (of the retirees' travel list) and in the PNR --- at least 24 hrs. in advance of ticketing (not the travel date). If you 'fail' to include the ADV number in the Travelers Profile Record of the retiree in The Travel Planner --- the discount will not be applied.

The process for adding the ADV number to the traveler's profile is explained in the Travel Guide.

• NEW REQUIREMENT --- BUSINESS OR LEISURE TRAVEL

You (or the traveler) creating the PNR MUST specify if travel is for business or leisure travel when booking the reservations on www.aa.com --- This must be done before ticketing.

If you 'fail' to indicate "LEISURE' --- the discount will not be applied.

• The 20% DISCOUNT FOR PURCHASED tickets (AA20) will be processed automatically by AA. (Refunds are generally processed within 48 hrs. of when the reservations are confirmed and the ticket is purchased.)

A confirmation email will be sent to the email included in the PNR indicating the final fare (including taxes/fees) billed to your credit card after the 20% discount is applied.

• The 20% ADV MILEAGE refunds for AAdvantage® award tickets will be processed automatically by AA. You MUST also follow all the steps included above to obtain the discount.

Award travel on ADV participating airlines & codeshare flights is NOT eligible.

Retirees are eligible for a 20% mileage discount on travel on flights operated and marketed by AA. You MUST review the Travel Guide to determine who is eligible for this discount.

Your ticket is issued on aa.com

DO NOT PUT THE TICKET ON HOLD.

THE TICKET IS NOT ISSUED BY "WE-FLY-AA".

You will confirm your flights, pay any airport fees, or taxes applicable and request the ticket be issued at the time you are confirming your flights. When the fees are paid your ticket will be issued by aa.com

SEAT ASSIGNMENTS can be reserved at the time flights are being confirmed.

You can check (2) bags for no charge, as long as, they meet the dimensions and weight specifications for checked bags.

AUTOMATED REFUND OF MILES

AA will automatically refund 20% of the miles.

The mileage discount (number of miles equaling 20% of what was used for the adv ticket) will be refunded to the Advantage Account.

If you were incorrectly charged for (2) bags, you must keep all ticket /baggage receipts and boarding passes to apply for the refund of the baggage fees after you trip is completed.

Allow 21 days for processing.

The miles used to purchase the tickets can only be reinstated back to the mileage account from which they came.

Touchless Check-in for AA Confirmed Tickets

Touchless Check-in

AA offers a touchless check-in process through their Mobile App for AAdvantage Members enrolled in TSA PreCheck.

This contactless technology uses facial recognition to verify identity at select security checkpoints, eliminating the need

for physical IDs or boarding passes.

HOW IT WORKS

Opt-in: AAdvantage members with TSA PreCheck must first opt-in to the Touchless ID program through the American Airlines mobile app.
Profile Setup: This involves saving passport and Known Traveler Number (KTN) to your profile.
Check-in: Check in for your flight through the American Airlines app.
Look for the Icon: On your boarding pass, you'll see the TSA PreCheck Touchless ID icon.
Dedicated Lane: Use the dedicated Touchless ID security lane at participating airports.
Facial Recognition: At the security checkpoint, a camera will scan your face and verify your identity against your digital ID.

Touchless Check-in --- CONTINUED

KEY POINTS

To utilize TSA PreCheck Touchless ID, you must first be

enrolled in TSA PreCheck. Then, with participating airlines

and airports, you can opt-in to the touchless ID program

during the check-in process, usually through your

airline's mobile app.

This requires saving your passport and Known Traveler Number (KTN) to your airline profile and authorizing the use of your

facial scan for identification. At the airport, look for the

TSA PreCheck Touchless ID lane at participating checkpoints.

This process is for Airline Loyalty Members who are also enrolled in TSA PreCheck.
A valid passport and a Known Traveler Number (KTN are required in your profile.
The opt-in is valid for one year and can be canceled at any time.
While using Touchless ID, you should still carry your physical ID as TSA may request to see it.
The Touchless ID process is designed to be efficient and secure, with the digital ID erased from checkpoint readers after verification.

AIRPORTS WITH TOUCHLESS CHECK-IN

Starting May 29, 2025 AAdvantage® members traveling through (DCA), (LGA), (ATL) and (SLC) will be eligible to enjoy a streamlined process at Transportation Security Administration (TSA) airport security checkpoints through TSA Pre-Check@Touchless ID.

In accordance with the AA Travel Guide: all AA20 and ticket refund requests for full refundable tickets should be made via the REFUNDS PAGE at www.aa.com.

The discount must have been applied at time the ticket was issued; not after the ticket has been purchased.

The WE-FLYAA department is unable to assist with retroactive refund requests.

If you purchased a nonrefundable restricted-fare ticket, you are subject to all the applicable rules, change fees and the fare difference for itinerary changes (e.g., changes to origin or

destination city, date/time changes, etc.).

You may contact 1-888-WE-FLY-AA for ticketing changes upon payment of the applicable change fee, or fare difference.
