Web Specials are reduced mileage AAdvantage Awards available on certain routes on certain days.


You do NOT call AA to book reservations OR to issue the ticket.  


Review the information below. These specials will pop up automatically when searching for AAdvantage award seats on a flight on aa.comaa.com 


Your ticket is issued on aa.com

DO NOT PUT THE TICKET ON HOLD.

THE TICKET IS NOT ISSUED BY 

"WE-FLY-AA".


You will confirm your flights, pay any airport fees, or taxes applicable and request the ticket be issued at the time you are confirming your flights. When the fees are paid your ticket will be issued by aa.com  


SEAT ASSIGNMENTS can be reserved at the time flights are being confirmed.


20% DISCOUNT OF THE MILES USED 

IS NOT APPLIED ON WEB SPECIAL ADV TICKETS AT THE TIME OF TICKETING.  


The mileage discount (number of miles equaling  20% of what was used for the web special ticket) will be refunded to the Advantage account after travel is competed.

NO CHANGES TO ITINERARY

ADV Award Web Special tickets cannot be changed. The miles used to purchase the tickets can only be reinstated back to the mileage account from which they came. 


REINSTATEMENT FEE

For AA employees & retirees -- there are NO reinstatement fees.  


CLAIMING ADV WEB SPECIAL AWARD 

You will claim the award and have the stated "web special miles" deducted from your account when you are confirming your flights.


THE MILEAGE DISCOUNT  (20%  of the miles used & any 'normal' baggage fees charged at the time of travel) will be done AFTER travel has been completed.


After you have completed travel you need to call the  WE-FLY-AA number to request that the 20% discount on the miles used for the web special award be reinstated to your ADV account.  


If normal baggage fees of (2) free checked bags were charged they will be refunded by the ADV department when you request the 20% mileage discount for the web special ADV ticket.  Excess baggage charges are never waived or refunded.

Retirees are eligible for a 20% mileage discount on select MileSAAver and AAnytime awards for confirmed space travel on flights operated and marketed by AA.  Confirm your reservations on  AA.com.  You can check (2) bags for free, as long as, they meet the dimensions and weight specifications for checked bags. 


Award travel on ADV participating airlines & codeshare flights is not eligible.


SELECT "HOLD" RESERVATION OPTION.   A PNR number will be generated.


Call We-Fly-AA to ISSUE TICKET  

Any fees applicable (on the discounted ADV ticket) will be collected when the ticket is issued. 




        

                         


20% DISCOUNT ON PUBLISHED FARE TICKET

SELF SERVE OPTION 


You no longer have to place a booking on hold on aa.com and then call 888-WE-FLY-AA to complete your purchase of most AA20 tickets. You can now  book AA20-eligible tickets in first, business or main cabins and pay with a major credit card through myIDTravel.


While the new self-serve process is 

the preferred method for booking 

AA20 tickets, existing processes will remain in place as the following fare types and payment methods are not currently accepted by myIDTravel.


Tickets that CANNOT be 

purchased thru myIDTravel 

· Premium Economy fares.

· AAdvantage Award tickets.

· Fares being purchased purchased 

using a travel credit, a gift card or 

the American Airlines credit card 

(not co-branded).


Process to Self-Serve AA20 Travel

To self-serve your AA20 ticket in any cabin (except Premium Economy) 

and complete your transaction 

with a major credit card:


1. Access the myIDTravel tool using the Travel Planner on AA retirees website.

2. Select the travelers from the Traveler Selection page.

3. Select American Airlines from the Airline dropdown menu, then select AA20 Discount from the Travel Status dropdown.

4. Enter your itinerary information and dates of travel.

5. Select your flights to see the AA20 fares available. 


The fares displayed reflect the 20% discount off the lowest available fare 

              for the flight(s) selected.                                                          If the lowest fare available is a 

Basic Economy fare a notification of it will be provided. You can then choose 

to continue with the booking or use existing processes to purchase a less restrictive fare type.


6. Continue through the booking process, entering contact information and credit card payment details. You may use any major credit card.


7. After completing your transaction, you’ll receive a confirmation containing your booking reference and ticket number(s).


8. After purchasing, you’ll be able to enter your booking details on aa.com 

in order to manage your trip, add AAdvantage number(s), select 

seats (depending on fare rules) 

and add amenities.

 The Existing Processes for AA20 Ticketing Remains the Same

While the self-serve option is preferred, if you are unable to complete your booking within the myIDTravel tool due to fare type, class of service or payment method, you may book AA20 tickets using one of the existing processes. 


THE  FINE  PRINT

 AA20 tickets are valid only on flights operated by American and flights marketed as American Eagle. An AA20 ticket allows you to check up to two bags for free (within allowable size and weight limitations) at the ticket counter or self-service kiosk. 


The AA20 discount is applied to the base fare before taxes or fees, and additional amenities do not qualify for the discount. Except for the baggage allowance, all fare rules apply for the fare against which the 20% discount is taken.


Who’s Eligible to fly AA20?

· Employees and retirees of AA and its wholly-owned regional carriers.

·Spouses, company-recognized domestic partners or registered companions.

· Child(ren) up to age 24 years.

· Parent(s), or parent(s)-in-law as long as they are listed as your designated D2Ps.


AA20 is for Personal Travel Only

You and your eligible dependent travelers may use your AA20 discount for personal leisure travel only. For example, if you run a side business for personal gain, you may not use your AA20 discount to purchase a ticket for the purpose of running that business or for travel in relation to that business.

24-HOUR  HOLD


If you are seven or more days from departure, you still have the option to place your AA20 ticket on hold on aa.com and complete your transaction over the phone. You may pay with credit card, AAdvantage miles or travel credits.


 Log on to aa.com to select your itinerary and place your flight(s) on a 24-hour hold. Do not select to purchase your ticket through aa.com.


Call 888-WE-FLY-AA (888-933-5922) within 24 hours to complete the purchase. Follow the prompts to reach 

a representative to assist you. 

refunds

In accordance with the AA Travel Guide: all AA20 and ticket refund requests for full  refundable tickets should be made via the refunds page on aa.com. 


The discount must have been applied at time the ticket was issued; not after the ticket has been purchased. 


The WE-FLYAA department is unable to assist with retroactive refund requests.


If you purchased a nonrefundable restricted-fare ticket, you are subject to all the applicable rules, change fees and the fare difference for itinerary changes (e.g., changes to origin or

destination city, date/time changes, etc.).


You may contact 1-888-WE-FLY-AA for ticketing changes upon payment of the applicable change fee, or fare difference.
