  PATRIOT DAY   is an annual observance on September 11 to remember those who were injured or died during the terrorist attacks in the United States on September 11, 2001


AA Flight 77 from IAD/LAX

  was deliberately crashed  into the western side of the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia at 9:37 a.m. (EDT)

All 64 people aboard perished.

125 people perished at the Pentagon.



AA Flight 11 from BOS/LAX 

was deliberately crashed into the 

North Tower of the World Trade Center 

in New York City at 8:46 a.m. (EDT)

All 92 people aboard perished.

UA flight 93 was part of the Sept. 11 

attacks  on the United States. 


It crashed at 10:03 a.m. (EDT)into a field in Somerset County, Shanksville, Pennsylvania while the crew and passengers were attempting to re-gain control of the aircraft. 

 

All 44 people aboard perished

 UA flight 175 was part of the Sept. 11 

attacks on the United States. 


It was deliberately crashed into the 

South Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City at 9:03 a.m. (EDT)

 

All 65 people aboard perished. 


MAY 25, 1979 - Remembering Flight 191

40th Year Anniversary - Flight 191: ORD/LAX

According to a National Transportation Safety Board accident report, all 258 passengers and 13 crew members aboard American Airlines Flight 191 died when the DC-10 plane crashed on May 25, 1979.  Two men on the ground were also killed.

The Faces of Flight 191

We wanted to learn more about the people whose lives were lost that day so we asked family members and friends to share their recollections.  Included in the link below are the shared memories of those who were lost. 


A Memorial to the passengers aboard Flight 191 was dedicated in 2011 

at Lake Park in Des Plaines, less than 2 miles east of the crash site.

Events are planned to mark the 40th Anniversary of this air disaster.
